Remittance inflows hit $2.17 billion in May thanks to the hard-earned money sent by migrant workers amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to data from Bangladesh Bank, this is the highest remittance inflow of this year.
The remittances of this month rose 5 per cent from $2.06 billion in April while it was $1.96 billion in January, $1.78 billion in February and $1.91 in March.
However, this remittance flow is 10.54 per cent higher from August last year and the second highest since July 2020.
From January to May, the remittance inflow stood at $9.89 billion, according to the data of the central bank.
