Remittance inflow falls marginally in October

The remittance inflow to the country in October fell marginally to US$ 1,010.99 million from $1055.65 million in September, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) official data.
The BB latest data also showed that the monthly inflow of remittance was lower than $1,098.45 million which the country received in the same month last year.
The data also showed that the expatriate Bangladeshis had used more private banking channels as they sent remittances of $667.98 million during the period.
Six state-owned commercial banks-Agrani, Janata, Rupali, Sonali, BASIC and BDBL- received $319.82 million while two state-owned specialised banks-Bangladesh Krishi Bank and RAKUB- received $11.23 million, the data added.
But, the expatriate Bangladeshis have sent only $11.96 million through foreign commercial banks.
Among the private commercial banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) received the highest amount of remittance of $243.49 million while National Bank $41.88 million.
Of the state-owned banks, Agrani Bank received $119.44 million, Janata Bank $88.59 million, Rupali Bank $16.41 million and Sonali Bank $95.30 million.
