Lab School pays tributes: Remembering martyr pals

The teachers and classmates of martyred Sheikh Russel and Baby Serniabat paid tributes to them at a memorial meeting held at the University Laboratory School and College in the city on Wednesday.
They also paid homage to Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the meeting, organized by the University Laboratory Ex-Students Association (ULESA).
The commemorative meeting titled “Tomader Jannyo Bhalobasa (love for you)” was organised to remember Sheikh Russel and Baby Serniabat, who were brutally killed along with Bangabandhu and most of his other family members on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975.
Remembering their classmates, the former teachers and students of the school and college demanded exemplary punishment of the killers.
The brutality of the August killing had no match in the world, they added.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor A A M S Arefin Siddique, Artists Mustafa Monwar and Hashem Khan and University Laboratory School and College Principal Habibur Rahman addressed the function, among others.
The memorial function aws also addressed by Sheikh Russel and Baby Serniabat’s teachers Gawrishanna Chakrabarty, Jahanara Islam and Jahira Khatun, classmates Shimul Mostafa, Hafizul Haque Rubel and Naser Iqbal Zadu.
ULESA President Nayem Ahmed Khan presided over the function while its General Secretary Anisur Rahman Litu moderated it. University Laboratory School and College Vice-Principal Selina Banu and teacher Feroza Akhter were present.
