Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday directed new officers commissioned to the Bangladesh Air Force to always remain alert to protect the country’s airspace.
“You’ll have to keep the country’s airspace free imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War and unfeigned patriotism as well as remaining respectful to the constitution,” she said.
The Prime Minister gave the directive while addressing the Winter President Parade-2015 of 72 Flight Cadet Course and Direct Entry 2015/B Officer Cadet Course of Bangladesh Air Force held at BAF Academy Parade Ground here.
She also directed them to develop themselves as able successors to be future leaders saying there is no alternative to honesty, concentration and integrity in this regard. Sheikh Hasina said the newly
commissioned officers will have to remain active to improve their professional standard through proper exercise as they have taken basic training at the Air Force Academy.
The Prime Minister hoped that they will turn their every challenge in their personal and professional life into an opportunity. Terming every member of the Bangladesh Air Force as partner of the ongoing development programmes and progress, Hasina asked them to work together keeping the interests of the force and the country above all personal gains.
She mentioned that aircraft, war equipment, machinery and other infrastructures of the Air Force are national property and said it is the sacred duty of the members of the force to ensure maintenance of those and make their best use.
Elaborating various steps taken by her government to modernise the Air Force, the Prime Minister said the fourth generation and the most modern MIG-29 fighter planes, C-130 Transport Aircraft and high powered Air Defence RADAR System were added to the fleet of the force during 1996-2001 tenure.
Besides, F-7 BG1 War Planes, MI-171 SH Helicopters, State of the Art Surface to Air Missile FM-90 have been added to the Air Force as part of modernisation of the Army, Navy and the Air Force in the last seven years under Forces Goal-2030, she said.
Earlier, the Prime Minister reviewed the smartly turned out parade and took salute at the impressive March past.
