Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and also 14-party coordinator Mohammad Nasim said it is a must to shift chemical warehouses from Old Dhaka within three months to stop recurrence of Chawkbazar fire like incident. “I asked the chemical businessmen to relocate their godowns to safer places from Old Dhaka in three months. They, who don’t want to shift their chemical warehouses, have been forced in doing so,” he said this on Tuesday after visiting the Chawkbazar fire victims at National Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital here.
The chemical storehouse must be shifted to Keraniganj Chemical Palli at the quickest possible time as the incident like Chawkbazar fire could not take place again, he also said. Referring to shifting tannery from Old Dhaka, he said, “Relocating of chemical storehouse is the demand of the people. If tannery can be shifted from Old Dhaka, then chemical warehouse must be shifted in same manner.” He also visited the fire victims and inquired about their treatment with the physicians and relatives.
