Religious speaker sent to jail

Religious Speaker Abdur Rahim Biplobi made confessional statement in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday in a case filed against him on the charge of delivering speech that generates unrest in Cumilla on October 13.
Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury of the CMM Court recorded the statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Earlier, Investigation Officer of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sub-Inspector Tariqul Islam produced Biplobi in the court as he voluntarily agreed to make confession about his involvement in the incident. Later, the court sent the speaker to the jail.
A team of Cyber Monitoring Cell arrested Abdur Rahim Biplobi (39) from Chunkutia area of South Keraniganj around 7:30 am on Thursday.
During primary interrogation, Biplobi had admitted to instigating people with his speech during a programme following the Cumilla incident.

In his speech, he allegedly threatened, to arrest those involved in placing the holy Quran at the Cumilla Puja Mandap by October 15, otherwise to hold a tough demo after Juma prayer and destroy Hindu temples.
In this regard, a case was filed with Paltan Police Station in the capital under the Digital Security Act.
