The Imams, Olama-Mashaekhs and religious leaders along with common people should come forward in resisting those vested quarters involved with hatching conspiracies to destabilise the country.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range Khondker Golam Faruk said this yesterday at a views-sharing meeting with Imams, Islami Thinkers and Olama-Mashaekhs at Police Line Community Centre in Rangpur. Police Super Abdur Razzaque presided over the meeting organised by district police and Divisional Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation Alhaj Abul Kalam Azad addressed the event as special guest. Khatib of Rangpur Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Alhaj Bayezid Hussaine, Muhtamim of Jummapara Al Zameaatul Karimia Madrasa Alhaj Hafez Idris Ali, Muhtamim of Hajipara Madrasa Kwari Alhaj Moulana Ashraful Islam, Principal of Baro Rangpur Keramotia Aliya Madrasa Mohammad Ali Sarker, General Secretary of Rangpur unit of Zameaatul Ahle Hadith Moulana Habibur Rahman and Imam of Lucky Mosque Moulana Asgar Ali addressed, among others. In their speeches, the Imams, Islami Thinkers and Olama-Mashaekhs expressed determination of preaching real meaning of Islam, the religion of peace, to resist those evil forces involved with misinterpreting the religion. They also committed to extend all-out cooperation to police in identifying the evil forces involved with misinterpreting Islam to create anarchy in the society and hand over them to police to resist all sorts of terrorism and militancy.
The DIG said Bangladesh has been marching speedily towards economic development and this progress has become intolerable to some vested quarters who have become involved with hatching conspiracies to destabilise the country.
“This is our Bangladesh and everybody irrespective of caste, creed and religion should come forward to save our motherland,” he said adding that there is no place for militancy and terrorism in Islam. Terming the Imams and Olama-Mashaekhs as leaders of the society, the DIG called upon them for properly discharging the duties bestowed on them through preaching the real meaning of Islam and religion. “Nobody can become successful in creating any difference between Islam and the Muslims if the religious leaders would conduct their duties with due importance and utmost sincerity,” he said.
