UNB, Dhaka :
The public representatives who will plunder relief materials or get involved in any other irregularity will not be spared, warned LGRD Minister Md Tazul Islam.
The minister came up with the warning while talking to reporters after visiting a number of canals under Rajuk, Wasa and Water Development Board in the city’s Uttara area on Tuesday.
“The people of Bangladesh have been asked to stay home as elsewhere in the world and the government is distributing relief materials among the poor through local public representatives,” he said.
“We’re taking instant action against those found involved in any irregularity and they won’t get any mercy for the misdeed. Already, we’ve expelled some public representatives for plundering relief materials in different parts of the country and criminal cases have been filed against them,” he said.
Talking about cleaning up canals ahead of monsoon, Tazul said the work in this regard is underway.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, Secretary to the LGRD Ministry Mohammad Helal Uddin and high officials concerned of Rajuk and Water Development Board were present.
