Distribution of emergency relief goods mainly rice at the moment has been geared up in different submerged areas located on the river banks of Padma and Arial Khan.
A vast low laying areas of Sadar, Charbhadrashan and Sadarpur upazillas mainly char lands have been submerged during last few days forcing few thousands of people marooned.
The situation was created due to onrush of flood water from upstream.
DC of Faridpur Sardar Sharafat Ali told BSS this morning that distribution of relief goods have already started in all the affected areas and is still continuing.
DC quoting a government instruction told that no one will be allowed to remain unfed in the affected areas.
However, the situation is not so much grave because it is a regular feature of every year in this area and people have become accustomed to face such situation with government support, he added.
He further told BSS that rehabilitation work will start as soon as water recedes.
