Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), associate body of BNP, on Thursday brought out a procession on the Dhaka University (DU) campus, demanding unconditional release of JCD president and general secretary and protesting the cases filed against BNP’s Senior Vice-President Tarique Rahman.
The procession started from the Doel Chhatar and ended at the Teacher-Student Center (TSC) after
parading different roads of the university. International Affairs Secretary of JCD Bayazed Arefin and JCD leader Al Mehedi Talukder led the procession while Bappu Sarker, Sumon Hasan, Rashed Iqbal, Mujahid Hossain, Nasir Uddin Shaon, Shafiqul Islam, Shamim Ahsan, Monirul Islam Jisan abd Roni Pradhan, among others, were in the procession.
Bayazed Arefin alleged that the government arrested JCD President Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel and General Secretary Habibur Rashid Habib in many false cases.
“No academic atmosphere prevails at the educational institutions across the country. The JCD leaders are trying to create academic atmosphere on the universities campus. But the government does not want it. That is why the government has lodged many false cases against them,” he said.
