Loosening stricture before getting vaccine to prevent coronavirus infection might be a threat to the health sector’s capability, experts warned.
Sources said, people as well the government appeared to have been loosening strict health safety actions, while the rates of infections and deaths are not being controlled.
Besides, the vaccine, which is thinking to be the only way to prevent the fatal virus, yet to be invented.
In these circumstances, public health experts expressed anxiety saying strict measures must be continued until the vaccine will be available.
They warned if the government lifts health safety related restrictions, the people will be more unconscious and the situation of Covid-19 spreading might be grave.
“The health safety measures must to be followed until the vaccine is available in the country. If we show reluctances to follow the safety measures the result will be unthinkable. The spreading of coronavirus might go beyond the
country’s controlling capacity,” Professor Dr. M. Muzaherul Huq, former Adviser of World Health Organisation (WHO), told The New Nation.
He said, safety measures are the only way to restrain the spreading of the dangerous virus.
“If we shun the safety rules outlined by the World Health Organisation and Directorate General of Health Services of the health ministry, the spreading of the diseases might increase sharply beyond our idea,” he said.
The professor said the situation then might create serious threat on our country’s health sector’s capabilities.
The public health experts said, after ending the 66 days nationwide lockdown on May31, people of the country used to show relaxation in obeying the safety rules outlined by DGHS.
Besides, the government has lifted relaxation of public services to do their duties staying home.
After starting lockdown, the government employees got the advantage to do their office work from home.
Only 25 percent of government employees were to go to office so far. But the government recently lifted that bar.
Apart from these, the government imposed Covid testing fees as a result the number of sample tests has fallen.
On the other hand, public transports owners and staff are violating health safety measures openly.
They accommodate passengers piling without following the safety rules to vacant one seat beside every one passenger.
They also are violating the rule of spraying disinfectors in the seats and handles.
All of those factors are made public health experts worried.
They asked the government to ensure every safety measures until the vaccine is available.
They urged the law enforcers to force the people to compel them to obey every measure like wearing face masks, eye shields, hand goggles and following social distancing rules outsides strictly.
They also asked the people to follow every safety rule even inside home to get safe from contaminating.
“Washing hands minimum 20 seconds, wearing face masks and other safety equipment and stay home without emergency needs and maintain social distancing would be violated if we want to be safe from the fatal disease,” Dr. Md. Salahuddin Mollah, Member of the Covid-19 consultant team of Police Hospital, Dhaka told The New Nation.
He said, danger is near to our footsteps, so, everyone should be aware.
