UNB, Chapainawabganj :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina here on Saturday urged the country’s people to reject those involved in the
politics of destruction and hand them over to law enforcers, saying the government is determined to take stern actions against these evil forces.
“I’ll request you to reject those doing the politics of destruction, say no to them, hand them over to law enforcement agencies,” she said.
The Prime Minister was addressing a mammoth rally at Nawabganj Govt College ground.
Sheikh Hasina said, the BNP-Jamaat nexus is always engaged in the politics of destruction and killing. “We want to give them a good lesson so that they never try to do such politics in the country,” she said.
Describing BNP and Jamaat as the synonym of destruction, terrorism and killing, she said, “This politics of killing won’t be tolerated in Bangladesh… those trying to destroy the country will be shown no mercy and their trial will surely be held on Bangladesh soil,” she said.
The Prime Minister also observed that the BNP-Jamaat clique is trying their heart and soul to destroy the country at a time when it is moving forward under Awami League leadership. “They’re the enemy of people, they’re the enemy of humanity,” she added.
Briefly describing the heinous activities of the BNP-Jamaat alliance unleashed for 93 days from January 5, Hasina said they killed over 150 people who are innocent and poor.
She also said the country’s people would not support BNP again and would not cast their votes in favour of the BNP-Jamaat alliance because of these activities. “Killers shouldn’t have any support, those who killed people will never get any vote…they had just wanted the destruction of people.”
Posing a question as to who is the ultimate loser in the 93 days of blockade and hartal, she said, “It’s the common and poor people of the country. There was no loss for Khaleda Zia…her only job is to cause bad things to the poor people as this is her only job.”
Former Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzman Liton, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Water Resources Lt Col (retd) Nazrul Islam, State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Shikder, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, AL Organising Secretary Abu Sayeed Mahmud Al Swapan, MP, Alhaj Omar Faruk Chowdhury, MP, Abdul Wadud Biswas, MP, Md Ayenuddin, MP, Golam Mostafa, MP, and Abdul Malek, MP, also spoke at the rally held with district Awami League President Md Moinuddin Mondal in the chair.
Referring to the ratification of Land Boundary Agreement Bill by Indian Parliament, the Prime Minister said it is a great political
and diplomatic success of the Awami League government.
She mentioned that governments after 1975 talked much against the Indira-Mujib pact but did nothing to solve the pending problem.
Talking about the victory of her niece Tulip Siddique in the recently held UK general election, Sheikh Hasina said the successors of Bangabndhu are even winning in international arena because of attaining higher education. “But, the BNP chairperson has taught her sons looting and corruption for which one of her sons is now hiding in the UK,” she regretted.
During her 35-minute speech, the Prime Minister massive development programmes were implemented by her government over the last six years in various sectors of the country for which per capita income has now risen to 1314 US dollars, jobs have been created for nearly one crore people while inflation has gone down to 6.3 percent from over 11 percent.
The Prime Minister described many development projects implemented in Chapainawabganj district and its adjacent areas and said she inaugurated many of them yesterday.
