The Sylhet City Corporation has taken to the field ‘strictly’ to protect the health rules in Sylhet city. A mobile court in SYCIC on Tuesday raided the city’s streets, markets and shops to mark the occasion. Drivers, pedestrians and shopkeepers were fined for violating health rules during the operation. Several shops and markets were closed for violating health rules. City Corporation Executive Magistrate and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Mohammad Jasim Uddin led the operation. Regarding the operation, Md. Jasim Uddin said, Sylhet City Corporation launched an operation in Bandarbazar, Mahajanpatti and Laldighirpar of the city on Tuesday at noon. At that time, two drivers and apedestrian were fined Tk 23,000 for not maintaining physical distance between the buyers and sellers and for not wearing masks. During this time nine cases were filed. Also the hawker market has been completely shut down.
Magistrate Jasim Uddin said the condition of roads and shops was dire even after Sylhet was declared a red zone. People are walking on the roads without masks and CNG autorickshaws are not following the rules of health. During the operation, the officers and employees of the concerned department of the City Corporation and the Sylhet Metropolitan Police assisted the mobile court.
