The century old maternity hospital of the port city named Red Crescent Maternity Hospital will be upgraded into a general hospital alongwith a Medical College very shortly.
This was disclosed at the annual general meeting of Chittagong district unit of Red Crescent society at Zila Parishad hall on Wednesday with its Acting Chairman and Board member Dr. Sheikh Shafiul Azam in the chair.
The general secretary of the chittagong unit, dr. Nurul Anowar Chowdhury Bahar presented the annual report of 2013-14 and audit report for the s ame period before the general meeting . He also presented annual budget of the society for 2014-15 which was unanimously approved by the AGM. This meeting is a resolution decided to construct a 20-storied hospital building and a medical college duly supervised by the Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr. Moshraff Hossain and the State Minister for Land Ministry Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed .
Besides, the meet declared Youth Rally in January , 2015 and National Youth Camp in Chittagong in December 2015 in Chittagong aimed at building the skilled manpower in the country, sources said.
