Staff Reporter :The law enforcers took foolproof security measures, including issuance of red alert in and around the Kashimpur Jail and other parts of the country ahead of the execution of war criminal Mir Quasem Ali.The red alert was issued in the jail area on Saturday evening, said District Magistrate Rahenul Islam.Law enforcers formed a 200-metre perimeter around Kashimpur Jail to restrict movement of the civilians, he said.Around 100 cops personnel from the Rapid Action Battalion, the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and the Police were deployed in front of the jail gate.Even the number of the regular jail guards was increased, while the leave of all jail officials and employees was cancelled ahead of the excecution of Mir Quasem Ali.Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was deployed in the capital and Gazipur.Six platoons of BGB were patrolling Dhaka city on Saturday to maintain law and order, Mohsin Reza, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, told The New Nation on Saturday.Four platoons of the paramilitary BGB were deployed in Gazipur in response to the request of Gazipur deputy commissioner, he said.The government directed the members of the law enforcing agencies, including detectives, to remain alert to avert any untoward situation in the city.
