The VC of the people-fed university Prof M Abdus Sobhan has recently assured Bangladesh Chhatra League men that they would get priorities in getting jobs at the university, a sharp breach of Constitution.
The VC reassured the BCL men saying “you will not miss jobs” when overwhelming 48pc graduate unemployment push many to despair and despair-shoot migration and suicide. The assurance come following a demonstration by BCL men, who hostage the VC and RU high officials for confirming their jobs in the university. The BCL activists allegedly started demonstrations after the university authorities appointed a physically challenged person at the university on an ad-hoc basis. For coping with the global advancement in education and research, besides qualified teachers, smart-university administration is also vital. Drastically, our public universities sharply declined in every condition set to measure university ranking. The long-cherished goal for a developed nation would be unattained until we develop world-class universities, the fund in research and innovation. Unfortunately, public universities’ education, learning and services are not up to mark in comparison to many South Asian universities. Though the political arrangement can assemble jobs for BCL cadres the spirit of liberation war – a prosperous Bangladesh — will be at stake.
