BSS, Dhaka :Bangladesh not only recorded their memorable victory against India but the match saw some records in the first ODI of the three-match series held on Thursday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.Mustafizur Rahman grabbed five for 50, the most by a Bangladesh bowler on debut. The only other Bangladesh bowler to take a five-wicket haul on debut is Taskin Ahmed, who had figures of 5 for 28 against India last year.The highest total of 307 runs scored by Bangladesh in this game after they surpassed their highest score of 296 in Dhaka in 2010. Bangladesh have lost seven out of eight previous matches when they have made a 250-plus score against India.This was the second times five of Bangladesh’s top-seven batsmen have scored 30-plus scores against India. They have not done this more than once against any other team. Bangladesh openers also scored 50-plus scores in five times against a top-eight team. They have done this twice against India, twice against Pakistan and once against New Zealand.This was the second occasion the Tigers beat India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium venue, Mirpur after the Asia Cup match in 2012. Tigers have also won once each in Dhaka in a bilateral series and Port of Spain in ICC Cricket World Cup.Bangladesh’s also notched their second-biggest victory of 79 runs in an ODI against a top-eight nation. The only time Bangladesh have won by a bigger margin was when they beat West Indies by 160 runs in Khulna in 2012.Tigers earned regular consistency in limited over format winning series at home. They whitewashed Zimbabwe 5-0, then Pakistan 3-0, and now lead the current series against India by a 1-0 margin. The opening partnership of 102-run between Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar, the highest opening stand for Bangladesh in ODIs versus India. The previous highest was 80 in Dhaka in 2010.The best opening stand (102) run rate of 7.5 also recorded in the 1st ODI between Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar. This is the best run-rate during a 100-plus opening stand for Bangladesh in all ODIs. Bangladesh also took 79 balls (or 13.1 overs) to reach 100 runs, their fastest against any top-eight team. Their fastest against any team is 73 balls, versus Zimbabwe in 2005.
