The Eid markets have been witnessing record last moment sales as hundreds of people of all ages rushing to the markets and shopping centres everywhere in Rangpur division just ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to sources in different business organisations and trade bodies at bigger markets, shopping malls, complexes and makeshifts markets, Eid shopping has reached at the highest peak now amid tight security measures and peaceful atmosphere.Businesspersons at different markets in Rangpur city said selling of Eid items has marked an all-time record despite higher prices this year following further improvement in the economic condition and increase of incomes of all people.
At the last moments of Eid shopping, the markets have worn festive looks now with rushing men, women, girls, boys, students, youths and adolescents for buying items of own choice and their movements have created traffic jams in the city.
Security measures have been tightened and special road traffic systems launched to enable the people marketing without any problem and no untoward incidents have so far been reported from anywhere in the division.
Huge members of the law enforcing agencies including police and
intelligence personnel are being found patrolling the markets, shopping malls and centres in the city as elsewhere in the division.
Besides, authorities of the business establishments, business
organisations, shopping malls, complexes, markets and centres have also taken their own security measures to ensure peaceful environment for the shoppers.
According to market sources and buyers, prices of clothes and other Eid items for males, females, babies and children are higher than the previous year and the increased prices have almost no impact among the buyers.
