Recomissioning of Ctg Haji camp demanded

Hajj Pilgrims Welfare Council(HPWC) Chittagong demanded recomissioning of the abandoned Pahartali Haji camp in Chittagong as well as divisional hajj office here.
 The demand of permanent hajj camp at Pahartali in Chittagong was announced at a meeting of HPWC held at Paramount Hotel premises in city on Monday with its President Ahmedul Islam Chowdhury in the chair.
Secretary General of HPWC Principal Dr. Abdul Karim delivered address of welcome in it. Among others , Alhaj Saleh Ahmed, Abu Md. Nurul Islam, Alhaj Md. Sharif, Kazi Faizullah, Alhaj Hakim Mohammadullah, Prof. Dr. Saifuddin, Alhaj Momtaz Ali khan , Nurul Alam Chowdhury, Alhaj Ahmed Hossain, Zamiruddin Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
 The meeting was told that if a hajj sub-office is established in the Pahartali Haji camp premises, the entire hajj programs of the Chittagong division may be operated from that sub office easily exempting load in Dhaka hajj office. The meeting said the road communications from Chittagong to Dhaka not prompt and easy and the is also hard to procure rail ticket for Dhaka . Traffic congestions is another setback for the bus passengers on this highway. On the other hand, the large haji camp situated over 9 acres of land in Pahartali, Chittagong established during erstwhile Pak regime expending crores of taka lying abandoned without any care
 It is also learnt from different sources that anti-social activities are randomly occurring in this abandoned houses of haji camp during night time. The chair of the meeting told that if Government becomes cordial to the hajj pilgrims of this division, it is so easy to turn the abandoned hajj camp into operative as well as divisional hajj office there by transferring a few officials from the Relgious Ministry in Dhaka.
 The chief guest Principal Dr. Abdul Karim has sought intervention of the Prime Minister over the revival of Pahartali Haji camp with increase of Ctg-Jeddah hajj flights, sources said.
