Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) has accorded a reception to Saban Mahmud for being appointed as the Minister (Press) at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
DUJ accorded the reception by offering a bouquet and giving crest after its executing committee meeting at its office on Tuesday, said a press release.
While addressing the program, DUJ President Kuddus Afrad urged the media houses including the daily Manobkantha, the New Nation and the Khola Kagoj, which are irregular in paying journalists’ salary, to pay the salary regularly.
He also sought intervention of the government to implement the ninth wage board award in all media houses to solve the financial crisis of journalists across the country.
DUJ Vice-President M A Quddus, General Secretary Sazzad Alam Khan Tapu, Joint General Secretary Khairul Alam, Treasurer Ashraful Islam, Organizing Secretary Jihadur Rahman Jihad, Publicity Secretary Asaduzzaman, Sports and Cultural Secretary Dulal Khan, Public Welfare Secretary Soheli Chowdhury and Office Secretary Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury, were present, among others, on the occasion.
