Reazul made NHRC Chairman

The government on Tuesday appointed former secretary Kazi Reazul Hoque as the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh.
Farhana Syead, Public Relations Officer of NHRC, confirmed it.
Reazul earlier had served as the full time
member of the NHRC till June 22, 2016 from 2010.
The tenure of former NHRC Chairman Dr Mizanur Rahman ended on June 25 this year.
The status of a full-time member is equivalent to a judge of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, as per the National Human Rights Commission Act.
There are five posts of honorary members in the NHRC. For appointing the five honorary members, nine eminent citizens from different fields – including journalism and education – and ethnic groups, have been shortlisted by the Cabinet Division.
Among them are the Editor of Bhorer Kagoj, Shyamal Dutta; Chief Executive Officer of Ekushey Television, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul; senior journalist Abed Khan; and former teacher of Dhaka University, Meghna Guha Thakurta.
