Staff Reporter :BNP Chairperson’s adviser Reaz Rahman is now out of danger, doctors said. “His health condition is improving. We can say that he is out of danger”, Dobir Uddin Ahmed, Director of Clinical Operation Department of United Hospital said this yesterday noon. He said that the medical team which was formed for Reaz’s treatment has decided to intensively examine four bullet-hit parts of his body using general anesthesia at the operation theater for working out the next step of treatment.Unidentified criminals shot Reaz in the leg and waist and torched his car near the Westin Hotel at Gulshan-2 around 8:45pm on his way back home from BNP Chairperson’s office.He was taken to United Hospital immediately, where he has been kept at the ICU. Reaz’s wife and daughter are with him.The hospital authorities formed a six-member medical board led by Orthopaedic Department head Prof Aminul Sun to look after Reaz and treat him.The board members sat in a meeting around noon and decided the necessary treatment measures for Reaz.About his wounds, Dobir Uddin said that Reaz received two bullet wounds in the back of his left side while two other wounds in the lower of his left knee. He said that the BNP leader underwent MRI and CT scan at the hospital.As per the reports of MRI and CT scan, the soft nerves and muscle tissues were damaged. Dobir Uddin said, the heel of Reaz’s left legs has swollen and he cannot move the leg.Asked whether there is any bullet still in his leg, he said, “We can’t say about it right now.”A number of former diplomatic and other persons rushed to the hospital to see the wounded BNP leader. They expressed deep concern over the attack and demanded immediate arrest of the accused for justice.
