Bangladesh tasted a bitter taste in the Tri-Nation ODI series, two-Test series and T20I series against Sri Lanka recently. To find out the dismal performance of Bangladesh, we talked to some cricket personalities.
Technical Director of BCB Khaled Mahmud Sujan said, ” I think former head coach of Bangladesh team Chandika Hathurusingha was a headache of players of Bangladesh. There was a negative mindset inside them.”
Former head coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Sarwar Imran said, ” Some players thought Hathurusingha knew everything about them. Besides, The bowlers failed to bowl well. The bowlers had no planning how to bowl against their opponent batsmen.”
Imran said, ” Shakib Al Hasan is a star all-rounder. He always used to contribute for his team. But the team have to perform well in absence of Shakib. Sri Lanka also played without their key player Angelo Mathews. But they performed well. So, Bangladesh players have to come out in absence of their key players against any team.”
Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Shafiqul Haque Heera said, ” Players of Bangladesh team failed to take pressure. They also failed to face Chandika’s technique. Sujan could not give appropriate guideline to the cricketers. Bangladesh team felt problem in absence of Shakib Al Hasan.”
Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Khaled Mashud Pilot said, ” The Team Management made some experiments in the matches. They gave chances totally newcomers against an experienced side. It seems to me that it was an incorrect decision. I hope may newcomers get chance in the national side but after a processing. First they should play in the age group cricket competitions, then for Bangladesh-A team and then Bangladesh National team.”
Former player and spinner of Bangladesh National Cricket team Mohammad Rafique said, ” Team Management could not do their job appropriately. World Cup Cricket is knocking at the door. Before that it was not correct to make those experiments. The Team Management could give chance the experienced players in the outgoing series.”
Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Mohammad Ashraful said, ” The performance of our team is not up to the mark in T20 format. The ICC T20 World Cup Cricket is imminent. So, the Team Management made some experiments. The BCB should arrange some shorter version cricket competitions. Only BPL is not enough. If the local players get chance those competitions, it will be a good step for the players of Bangladesh.”
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal said, ” We could not perform well in the Tri-Nation ODI series, Test matches and T20I series. We failed to show our ability and expectations. It was the main cause for the reason of our defeats.”
Mahmudullah Riyad said, ” The responsibility was upon our players to bring us forward in T20I matches against Sri Lanka. We have to find out where we did mistakes. If we locate our mistakes as fast as we can, we shall perform better in future.”
