The science building and Science Group of Dhaka Commerce College (DCC) was inaugurated with a colorful programme on the college premises yesterday.
Minister for Science and Technology Architect Yafesh Osman was chief guest at the function. Besides, the minister also unraveled the plaque of the 15- storied Science Building of the DCC.
 Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Prof Md. Ziaul Haque, GB member and former Govt. Secretary AFM Sarwar Kamal, and GB member and first principal of Dhaka Commerce College Md. Shamsul Huda FCA were present as special guests .
The programme was presided over by Chairman of DCC Governing Body Prof Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddique.
The welcome speech was delivered by the Principal (In-Charge) of DCC Prof Md. Shafiqul Islam.
The chief guest, in his speech, welcomed the new endeavor of Dhaka Commerce College for introducing Science Group for the first time.
He said that to build Bangabondhu’s dream Bangladesh and to fulfill the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to turn Bangladesh into a developed country within 2041, the government has taken realistic steps to spread scientific and technological education.
He also included that science education is compulsory to execute the target of digital Bangladesh.
He further added that a new vista has been opened for Science Education at Dhaka Commerce College.
He praised the infrastructure and learning environment of this college and wished this institution’s future progress which has already achieved the three time distinction under The National University.
The special guest Prof Md Ziaul Haque expressed his amazement to see the working environment and student facilities of the college.
Governing Body Chairman Prof Dr Shafiq Ahmed Siddique said that the importance of science and technology is immense, and for this we need to impart scientific and technological knowledge to our students.
He also said that Digital Bangladesh needs students with scientific knowledge, and for the betterment of the ICT sector we need more skilled people and that requires a good number of students from Science background. He further added that Dhaka Commerce College has already introduced CSE Hons and is going to introduce more science and ICT – based courses in future.
