Real Sociedad moved to second place in the Liga Santander after a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Deportivo Alaves on Thursday night.
Although he didn’t score, Martin Odergaard was key to Real Sociedad’s win, setting up Mikel Oyarzabal for Real Sociedad’s opening goal in the 19th minute.
Willian Jose netted the home side’s second in the 32nd minute and the game was over as a contest before halftime when Oyarzabal scored his side’s third from the penalty spot after a handball foul in the Alaves area.
Alaves keeper Fernando Pacheco saved a second penalty in the closing minutes after Mikel Merino was fouled by Manu Garcia in an action which saw Alaves’ Manu Garcia sent off for a second yellow card.
Eibar produced an incredible fightback to come back from 2-0 down at home to Sevilla to win 3-2.
Lucas Ocampos opened the scoring in the tenth minute for the visitors and Oliver Torres doubled Sevilla’s lead in the 32nd minute as things began perfectly for Julen Lopetegui’s side.
Eibar got a lifeline with 25 minutes left to play when Fabian Orellana netted from the penalty spot.
Pedro Leon equalized from a narrow angle with 15 minutes remaining and Jose Angel sent the home fans wild nine minutes from the end when he scored a direct free kick, fooling Sevilla keeper Tomas Vaclic, who was expecting the ball to be crossed into the penalty area.
Espanyol looked to be on track for their second win of the season when Adria Pedrosa put them ahead two minutes into the second half away to Celta Vigo only for Santi Mina to equalize with a header that rolled into off the woodwork in the fourth minute of injury time.
Tuesday saw Barcelona win 2-1 at home to Villarreal, while on Wednesday night Real Madrid won 2-0 at home to Osasuna, Atletico Madrid beat Mallorca 2-0 and Leganes and Athletic Club Bilbao drew 1-1.
