Migrant Workers In Dire Condition

According to a newspaper report almost 4, 00,000 expatriate workers have returned to the country last year as Covid-19 has significantly curtailed the demand for jobs in many countries globally. Many of them are the sole bread earners of the family. Now the returning workers along with their families are in a fix and going through extreme economic hardship.
The Government has initiated a scheme of disbursing loans to the expatriate workers through Probashi Kallyan Bank, but only a little portion of the loan amount has been disbursed yet. Even a large segment of expatriate workers do not know about such credit facilities.
Besides before giving a loan, the returnee workers have to undergo requisite training on how to operate business and invest money. Otherwise they might not benefit vastly from the loan amount. We earnestly appeal to the concerned quarter with a view to carrying out proper initiatives in this regard.

Control The Price Of Daily Necessities

The deadly corona virus has put the whole world in crisis. The people of Bangladesh have also been fighting Corona for more than a year. Lockdown was imposed to prevent coronary infections, long public holidays, joblessness and floods when people in crisis. Amid such a situation, the rising prices of daily necessities in the market have made the suffering of low-income people even more extreme. It’s like a drought on death.
The high prices of daily commodities including rice, sugar, onion, edible oil, pulses are an unexpected misfortune for the people. Middle and lower income people are struggling to make ends meet as the rate of increase in commodity prices has increased compared to income. As a result of the corona’s limited field of work, the amount of income has decreased, leaving many unemployed. In this situation people are frustrated with the price of extra products. In most cases in the market, a class of people raises the price of products by showing festivals and various excuses or by creating artificial crisis.
Therefore, I demand to strengthen the regular market monitoring activities by the National Department of Consumer Protection and make the market system consumer friendly.
