Poor Knowledge Index
The Global Knowledge Index (GKI) is a designed method of measuring knowledge performance of countries based on 133 variables and some seven criteria including pre-university education, technical and vocational education and training, higher education, research, development and innovation, information and communication technology, economy and the general enabling environment.
Bangladesh must not lag behind other nations in today’s science and technology-driven society in respect of developing its human capital. The ability to survive and thrive in this new era would depend a lot on how better Bangladesh is efficient to educate and train its people in the different fields of knowledge and thus turn them into skilled human resource. We deeply hope policymakers and authorities concerned of our country would adopt strategies to sustain knowledge and bloom it as the main component for establishing a ‘Knowledge Economy’.

Job exam centers at district level
It is too much painful for a job seeker to cross his own district or divisional town to attend a job exam or interview. He has to face financial crisis as well as lost mental preparation. It is also more difficult for a female candidate to go far and participate in a job test. As a result, many meritorious candidates are not able to participate in the tests.
So, to alleviate the sufferings of the job seekers, all job test arrangements should be taken in departmental or district town. This is our expectation.

Safe road must be ensured
The dream of Padma Bridge has come true. Now communication is much easier for southern part of Bangladesh with its capital Dhaka. It now takes only 3 hours from Barishal to Dhaka by bus. After opening of Padma Bridge, road accident also increased.
Last week almost 10 people died in two different accidents in Dhaka-Barishal-Kuakata highway. As communication is now easy by bus, pressure on highway has been increased. But road from Vanga to Kuakata is inadequately wide. Express way of 6 lanes road from Dhaka to Vanga has been completed but road from Vanga to Kuakata remains as usual like previous. So, this issue should be taken in consideration and the authority should take the necessary steps to prevent road accident.
