Bring Back Green Arrow
One of the two fastest express trains of the country before independence was Green Arrow running between Dhaka and Chittagong. The other fastest train was 23 up/ 24 down Khulma-Parbatipur Rocket Express Train.
Green Arrow was very popular to the passengers because it hardly failed to reach its destinations in time. But what a surprise matter it was that the Bangladesh Railway’s new administration suspended the Green Arrow. The railway administration was requested to review their impractical decision. But sadly, there was no positive response.
Another painful matter is the suspension of the railway timetable. Perhaps there is no second example in the world. The railway administration was urged several times to reprint the time table, but to no purpose. However, we once again request the railway administration to bring back both the Green Arrow train and the railway timetable.

BREB should fix working hours of billing assistants
There are 80 rural associations (Palli Bidyut Samity) under Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB). The country is now 100 per cent electrified. So, electricity workers have to work relentlessly to provide customer service. Though they are relentlessly working to prepare the bills but how much opportunity are they getting? The job circular says, no work, no salary. In addition to the eight hours work, billing assistants have to work for an additional time of three or four hours. The total work time is 10 -12 hours. If the billing assistants don’t work, they won’t get salary, according to the circular.
But without salary, why would they have to do that work again? One thing here is to note that most of the time they have to return home in the evening or at night after work which is hard work for a female staff.
So, BREB authorities should take immediate action considering the convenience and safety of all Palli Bidyut billing assistants.
