Assignment—A Good Assessment Tool
We started our new sessions of class 9 in 2020 and everything was going normal until March of that year. Just before the birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, celebrated now as National Children’s Day, our school announced closure until further notice. We hoped school would re-open very soon. But alas! We are still confined in the house with anxiety and tension all the time for reopening of schools.
However during this pandemic situation the Education Ministry decided to give students assignments. During our stay at home, we have to prepare assignments as school tasks and need to submit the teachers. It is alternative to school activities now. Our school gives us some tasks and we have to complete these and submit on a fixed day. There are a lot of scopes of finding answers of the assignments from different sources. We can make it with the help of google search engine, videos on YouTube, teachers, parents, friends, and so on. It is now a blessing for many of us to practise analytical skills and attitudes. This assignment method of assessment helps students utilise their valuable time and develop thinking ability. We are thankful to the government for this great work and providing some tasks for us. Our lockup life has got a new dimension.

Water Logging Hazard
Severe water logging is not a new problem in different cities and suburbs of the country including the capital during the monsoon season. Mainly due to mismanagement of drainage, water logging is occurring every year with little rainfall. However, we usually blame the government, the mayor and the concerned people for this water logging. But, we are no less responsible.
We throw our daily garbage, plastic, polythene in the dustbin instead of throwing it in the street. All this dirt, plastic, polythene is going to the drain with rain water and being filled with garbage. As a result, water flow is being obstructed and water logging is taking a definite shape. In fact, the main reason for the water logging problem is the lack of awareness. If we are not aware, even if big projects are implemented to eliminate water logging, there will be uncertainty as we will get the desired results. Therefore, public awareness should be increased from now on to eliminate water logging.
