Virtues Of Muharram
Muharram is the first month of the Hijri year. The four sacred or honorable months mentioned in the Quran are Jilqad, Jilhaj, Muharram and Rajab. During these four months, all sins, including warfare, are strictly forbidden. In the hadith, Muharram has been referred to as Shahrullah or the month of Allah.
The word Ashura means tenth. In Islamic terminology, the 10th of Muharram is called Ashura. Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA), it is mentioned in the hadith that Prophet Karim (SAW) said, 12 months in a year. Of these, four months are of special significance. Of these, three months are consecutive, namely Jilqad, Jilhaj and Muharram and the fourth month is Rajab month of Muzar tribe. (Bukhari: 482, Muslim: 189).
Muharram is a very significant month. Therefore, in this month, one should join in worship knowing the correct history of Islam and in the light of Quran and Sunnah. Worship is only for the pleasure of Allah.
