August: The Month Of Mourning!
In the midst of the pandemic Covid-19, the mournful August has reappeared with agonised and tragic memories. On the night of 15 August 1975, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his other family members was assassinated by some misguided army officials. Since then, the day has been known as the month of mourning for the most heinous and brutal massacre in the history of human civilization.
Every year as soon as August comes, millions of Bengalis remember Bangabandhu with grief, love and reverence. We pay profound homage to this incontestable leader and pray for him and his martyred family for the eternal salvation to the Almighty.

Corona Vs Sports
It is interesting that the corona devastation could not stop the human determination to hold the World Olympics, the Copa America and the European championship. About 206 countries and regions have sent 11,238 athletes in the World Olympics underway in Tokyo, Japan. They are vying for 339 gold medals, equal number of silvers and 339 plus bronze medals in the 15-day tournament. Athletics, swimming and gymnastics together have about one-third of the total medals.
Those who take part in any sport competition; they are recognized as ambassadors of their respective countries. Bangladesh are also there. We hope that our athletes will do their best to win a medal.
