Glory Of Dhaka Wanderers
Perhaps sometimes in 1960, Calcutta Mohammedan Sporting Club came to Dhaka on invitation to play three football matches. The visiting team had international players from both India and Pakistan. In the first match, the team from Calcutta beat Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club by 3-1 at the Dhaka Stadium, but they lost to Dhaka Wanderers Club 2-3 in the second match at the same venue. The series turned very exciting.
The same year Wanderers Club became league champions and reached the semifinals in the Aga khan Gold Cup Football Tournament. The three other semifinalists were Calcutta Mohammedan Sporting Club, Makassar football Club from Indonesia and Pak Mughals from Karachi.
Today there is no team named Dhaka Wanderers Club in the Premier league. We want them to return.
