Countdown of WCF 2018 begins
It is a matter of great pleasure that the countdown of the 21st edition of the World Cup Football 2018 began on Wednesday in Moscow, capital of Russia, where the final match will be held. Thirty-two countries divided into eight groups of four will be taking part in the greatest show on earth. Apart from the hosts, highest five times World Champions Brazil have almost sailed into the final round needing just one point from remaining seven matches. But two times champions Argentina and the defending Copa America Champions Chile are in trouble.
From Asia, continent’s No. 1 team Iran are certain, and the other nations that have probabilities should be Australia, South Korea and Japan. We suggest return of Australia to Oceania since the FIFA has expanded the number of teams in the final from 32 to 48 in force from 2026. It is, however, too early to say about the probabilities of the nations of other continents as the qualifying rounds have just begun.
About Bangladesh’s prospect in football, the experts comment that the players have neither physical nor mental abilities to play in big tournaments, are short of motivation to win, and above all the shortcoming of the football governing body’s executives. One of them said, federation should first target the Asia Cup Football, and not the World Cup Football.
