NCC Polls : Let the voters speak :
A journalist friend of me wanted to know as to who will win the mayor post in the Narayanganj City Corporation Election being held today in a festive way. I said: Ivy will triumph finally. He said, many residents from Narayanganj murmur that Sakhawat has better prospect because the Awami League (AL) candidate thinking her victory is in sight has not tried to bring all the AL leaders and workers under a single umbrella.
I said, as I do not live in that city, I have no idea about the political panorama thereof, but I can say there is not a single corruption charge against the lady in her last four years’ reign as mayor and that will be her plus point. My answer could not satisfy him and he left the scene dejected.
Now whoever wins, we hope that the election will be held free of muscle power and administration’s partisan role. Let there be a joyous moment for all the people of Narayanganj.
It is needless to mention that Selina Hayat Ivy as an independent candidate defeated all the mayor candidates, including the official AL candidate, cashing the last moment withdrawal by the BNP candidate in the last NCC polls.
