Politics is not mere a dream
The last vanguard of Marxism and Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz is no more. He died on November 25 (Friday). But his once admirers in our country abdicated Marxism as an ideology long before.
His friend Argentine Marxist Revolutionary Che Guevara was killed on October 9 in 1967. Guevara’s death created stir all over the world. Tens of thousands of youths throughout the world accepted him as a symbol of revolution, but it did not happen in the case of Castro because Marxism died with the collapse of Berlin Wall, with the fall of Soviet Union in 1991. Thus the sacrifices of millions became symbol of failure.
Marxism was a dominating force in Bangladesh before and after independence in the educational institutions and the mills/factory premises. About 10,000 youths, mostly Chhatra League (JSD loyalists) members, were killed as they took oath to establish Marxism in the country through class struggle. But their sacrifices also failed as their political leaders were more romantic than practical.
We know that path to revolution is not path of roses, and at the same time we must accept the truth that revolution does not mean romanticism, left adventurism, or mere dream.
