Sheikh Kamal and football
Whether one agrees or not, Sheikh Kamal is the architect of Dhaka Abahani Limited (formerly Abahani KC), introduced modern techniques of football in Bangladesh, hired for the first time an European coach for his team, which injected new life in the Bangladesh football arena. Watching it, the WAPDA officials followed Sheikh Kamal.
Abahani became unbeaten champions in their second attempt in 1974 superceding strong challengers BJIC (now BJMC), WAPDA, Dhaka Wanderers Club, Dilkusha AC, Mohammedan SC and Rahamatganj MFS. We saw Sheikh Kamal as a man of sportsman spirit, and dedicated to games and sports.
We remember him always for his contribution to country’s sports.
