Make salt prices reasonable
Adding iodine in edible salt was made mandatory by government two decades ago because of goiter – an uncommon disease in Bangladesh.
Last year’s production of sea salt was less than the requirement, but additional raw refined salt wasn’t imported in time. The retail price of refined large crystal salt was TK 14 to 15 per kg; it has now doubled to TK 35 per kg.
I’d like the government to take measures against this shortage of salt supply in the market.
