Welcome Afghanistan cricketers
The Afghan cricketers are now in Dhaka to play three one-day internationals against Bangladeshi counterparts at Mirpur, Dhaka on September 25, 28, and October 1.
There is no doubt that the series against Afghanistan will help the Bangladeshi players repair their shortcomings ahead of the series against England, who are due to arrive on September 30.
The sad story is that we shall miss ace fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, who needs some more time to return to the pitch from injury. We do not want him to become Roy Gilchrist of Bangladesh. The great West Indian was the fastest bowler in the world in late fifties, but failed to survive for long due to frequent injuries. Gilchrist played 57 tests only, giving away 26.68 runs per wicket between 30th May 1957 and 11th February 1959
So, let us patiently wait for Mustafizur’s honourable return. He will render lots of services to Bangladesh if he is not haste.
Finally, we firmly believe that the series against Afghanistan, a desert of gun powder and frequent death, will be entertaining, attractive and amazing.
