Power generation at affordable cost
A few days ago I was watching on ATN the Power Talk which was about Rampal Power Plant near Sunderbans. In the discussion State Minister for energy Nasrul Hamid, Sultana Kamal and few others were also being connected through Skype. I was astounded by the answers of the Minister in support of the project. How could he spout such unreasonable logic?
We are bewildered and feeling very disturbed by the attitude of those who are in power, it seems that they have no sympathy for the people, is it because they did not go to the polling stations to cast their votes as it was not held under a neutral government? At that time it was said that the election was held to maintain the on going process, within a short time an inclusive election will be held but two and half years have passed ,there is no sign of it.
In every sphere people are being overlooked, their rightful demands for the welfare of the country are crushed down. West Bengal did not allow a similar power plant but our government is planning to build it so that India could sell its coals to Bangladesh. What an irony!
The government is also going to set up a nuclear power plant at Rooppur. It will cost billions of dollars. We heard that it has signed a deal with Russia. The government must cancel the contract immediately because we can foresee the disastrous outcome of the plant, there are many aspects which will be impossible to be maintained, like disposal of fuel rods and so on.
