Water logging in city
The Indian subcontinent is characterized by a tropical monsoon climate. Most of Bangladeshi receives rain for only around 100 hours each year. But the monsoon also causes problems in Bangladesh’s cities, especially for Dhaka city. Every year the heavy rains make some parts of the city to suffer from water logging. City’s Shantinagar and its adjacent areas’ inhabitants have been suffering from water logging since long. Roads are blocked leading to traffic jams, pedestrians have to wade through flooded streets. Sometimes water logging problems disrupts regular activities. It may take several days to recede. Water logging happens everywhere in this area and the neighborhoods. The water becomes polluted when it mixes with the garbage and waste that is littered everywhere. Apart from disrupting traffic it also becomes a risk to health. Shantinagar and it’s adjacent area is very important and busy area of Dhaka City. Some famous schools and markets are situated in this area. So, people of this area want relief from water logging problem as soon as possible.
We hope concern authorities will take corrective measures in this regard soon.
