Telling the truth

Judges deliver judgment in a case examining documents and evidences produced in the court. As such, witnesses must be fearless, honest and indomitable. The Prophet Muhammad (SM) warned against perjury and the dire consequence thereof.
It is so important that Allah decreed in Surah Ma’ Idah, Verse No. 2, “Help one another in goodness and piety, and not in sin and aggression.” He asked the men vide Surah Ibid, Verse No. 8 that they must be bearers of justice and must act equitably. In Surah An-Nisa, Verse No. 135, He says, speak the truth, even if it is against yourselves, your parents and near relatives.
He says in Surah Baqarah, Verse No. 42, “Mix up not truth with falsehood and knowingly conceal not truth.”
Islami scholars opine that these are the criterion of giving witness to establish justice in the society.

May Day

The May Day means rising of the exploited workers through out the world. The May Day means struggle for a classless society, where no man shall exploit another. The May Day means distribution of income among all the members of the society. In reality, exploitation continues and there is no end of the struggle for survival.
On the occasion of the May Day 2016, I like to quote from a poem of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam that depicts the reality.
“Hungry child wants not self-rule, wants handful of rice, little salt,
Day passes on, (but) the child taken not meals, (so) burns his empty stomach.”
