A judge with a heart

An Italian judge acquitted a man, who stole foods driven by hunger, of the charge of theft to the surprise of the so-called champions of the western democracy. It is surely, observers define, a super judgment that upholds right to survive when the State cannot do it.
About 1390 years ago, the Prophet Muhammad (SM) in a ruling banned cutting hand to the elbow of a man who stole food items driven by hunger. Even if it was proved that the man committed the crime for other reason(s), his hand must not be amputated until he and his family were rehabilitated.
The Prophet gave this ruling upon last part of Verse No. 3 of Surah Ma’Idah in which Allah said: But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin, then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Allah made feeding the hungry as one of the six spiritual and economic conditions of making Namaj (prayers) acceptable to Him.- (Hadith-e-Qudsi, Hadith No. 246). Now I hope that the so-called champions of democracy should take lesson from Islam and the Italian judge to make the world lively.

May Day

The May Day means rising of the exploited workers through out the world. The May Day means struggle for a classless society, where no man shall exploit another. The May Day means distribution of income among all the members of the society. In reality, exploitation continues and there is no end of the struggle for survival.
On the occasion of the May Day 2016, I like to quote from a poem of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam that depicts the reality.
“Hungry child wants not self-rule, wants handful of rice, little salt, Day passes on, (but) the child took not meals, (so) burns his empty stomach.”
