Indian Polls – 2014
The 16th Lok Sabha election will be held in 36 states and autonomous regions’ 930 thousand polling stations (April 7-May 12) to decide which party or coalition will rule India for the next five years. Presently the two rival coalitions are led by the ruling National Congress and the BJP. Besides, there are regional parties like Trinamool Congress, Communist Party of India (Marxists), Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party, DMK, Anna DMK and Janata Dal (United), which may play key role to form the government.
Uttar Pradesh has highest 80 seats followed by Maharashtra 48, West Bengal 42, Andra Pradesh 42, Bihar 40 and Tamil Nadu 40. So, the party or the coalition winning most seats in Uttar Pradesh has brighter chance to be seated in Delhi. In the latest State Legislature election in Uttar Pradesh, BJP swept to sound a note of warning to Congress, whose leaders failed to correct themselves.
Trinamool and CPI (M) are the two challengers in West Bengal while Congress should win in Bihar. Like the past, DMK and Anna DMK will share the seats in Tamil Nadu.
