A wrong information
On Saturday, I was watching a movie titled ‘Ekatturer Khudiram’ on a private television channel. The theme of the movie is that a 14-year boy Khudiram, who went to the gallows in 1908 on the charge of killing a magistrate, inspired all those who took up arms in 1971 against the colonial rule of West Pakistan dominated Pakistan central government. Such presentation is wrong. We did not shed blood for independence of India, but for independence of Bangladesh, and our leader was undoubtedly Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman although he was not physically present.
Bolshevik Party leader V.I. Lenin stayed in Germany when the October Revolution toppled the Czar government and established communist government in Russia in 1917. Yet he has been recognised as leader of such a revolution as changed the course of history.
Likewise Sheikh Mujib changed the course of history. He guided an unarmed nation to achieve the independence. When the West Pakistan controlled Pakistan central government refused to recognise the election results of 1970 and Sheikh Mujib as Prime Minister of Pakistan and handover power to him, there was no second option than declaring independence. So, the Ekatturer Khudiram is the negation of history.
