Classic movies
I have not yet seen A J Kardar’s famous movie ‘Jago Hua Sabera’ (Day shall dawn) released early sixties. But I have read in the newspapers that the movie earned gold medal in the Moscow Film Festival. Can the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) take initiative to reprint the movie for our present director’s lessons? The story of the film is based on the novelist Manik Bandopadhya’s Padma Nadir Majhee.
But Kardar could not complete his second movie ‘Dur Hai Sukh Ka Gaon’ (Off Human Happiness). Halfway in the production, the then government arrested him on charge of spreading Marxism in the country through movies. Kardar in his afterward life did not show any interest to his incomplete film Dur Hai Sukh Ka Gaon. However, critics praised his incomplete movie calling it as a classic literature.
Will the BFDC be sincere to Kardar’s second movie?
