Appeal to build a students’ hostel
I would like to draw the attention of honourable Education Secretary to take an initiative for constructing a hostel for the students of Abul Kalam Degree College at Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district with a view to providing residential facility for the non-local students. More than 600 students are studying in the college. I would also like to mention that I was personally involved with the establishment of the college. At that time, Mr. Nurul Islam CSP who was SDO of the then Bagerhat Sub-division, became very much pleased seeing the huge enthusiasm among general people of the locality towards education. They donated required money and land for establishing the college.
Recently, I visited the college and was very much impressed by the educational atmosphere of the college. The college authority has established an auditorium in the name of Kuber Chandra Biswas. As he was the key actor for establishing the college at Gilatala in the year 1967. Here, I would like to mention that late Kuber Chandra Biswas was a political figure and had been elected MP for several times from the Bagerhat-3 Constituency (Rampal-Mongla) as AL candidate. He was a senior person and respected by all and often used to recite from the holy Gita. He was called ‘Dadu’ by Bangabandhu.
As one of the most favourite students of late Babu Kuber Chandra Biswas I request you to help in building a hostel for the Abul Kalam Degree College. At the same time, I would also request you to visit the college at a suitable time. I can assure you that the overall educational atmosphere of the college and the warm hospitality of the local people will impress you and you will feel the justification of my appeal.
