Bangabandhu Gold Cup :
The Bangabandhu Gold Cup is an international association football tournament organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation.
The 4th edition of the tournament will be held simultaneously in Dhaka and Sylhet. Eight national and Olympic football teams from seven countries will take part. Hosts Bangladesh will field two teams. The foreign teams are Malaysia, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Cambodia and Nepal.
But we have something to say. The Bangladesh Football Federation should have tried for teams from Iran, South Korea or Japan. We know that Evergrande Football Club from China reached the semifinals of the World Club Cup Football tournament, eventually won by Barcelona of Spain. They outplayed Argentina’s River Plate 3-0 in the final, two of which was scored by Suarez.
We know that the 3rd edition of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup drew huge crowds. The critics said that the tournament brought back life to the country’s football. So, we think there will be no deviation this time also. The attraction of the competition will be more if any leading football nation takes part.
Malaysia Olympic team are the defending champions.
The Bangladesh Football Team should try for it.
Because, the home-side always enjoy certain benefits while playing in home-conditions. The team should make best use of it. However, let us-the viewers -take all games/matches in the spirit of greater football – the big show on the Earth.
