Downgrading performance
About the Bangladesh cricket team’s performance in the Asian Cup and the ongoing T20 World Cup Cricket, Saurov Ganguly, former captain of the Indian team, said, “The performance is downgrading.” Disagreeing with the statement that the hosts were lacking experience, Saurov said, “The conception is wrong. Bangladesh has been playing T20 cricket from the day it was introduced. It is time to arrest the reduction.”He, however, praised the performance of Anamul.
I do agree with the judgment of the ex. captain of the Indian team and add that vanity, self-conceit, garrulity and empty-words have become the characteristics of the cricket board and some senior cricketers.. When the captains of the foreign teams say, “Our ultimate mission is the cup but we respect the opponents. They are equally strong.” Sorry to say that we have hardly seen our team captain to say the likes.
A former British coach of the Indian national soccer team said, “Every athlete must have three qualities. These are conviction to win, mental and physical fitness, and concentration of mind on the pitch.”
What we feel that the Bangladesh Cricket Board should be freed from politics. May I refer to the recent change in the Indian Cricket Board? The country’s Supreme Court has appointed former national team captain Sunil Gavaskar president of the board for an interim period. Every one knows that Gavaskar is not linked to any political party and that is why the change has been welcome in India.
We think that the Bangladesh Cricket Board should be overhauled before reforming the cricket team.
