Making Mugda Hospital operational

Private hospitals charge so high a charge for their health services that in most cases such service is not affordable. Many people have to sell their valuables or borrow to pay for the medical service from private hospitals. This is not desirable in an independent country in 21st century. The 500-bed new hospital constructed at Mugda in Dhaka Metropolis by the government costing Taka 1,1000 core is a good move. The hospital is in operation from last year but in very limited scale. It is a modern hospital. No doubt, it will increase health care facilities for the city dwellers. Shortage of government hospital has increased suffering of common people. This hospital will cater to the medi-care of the people of the locality to some extent.
We hope the concerned authority will take steps to make the hospital fully operational soon.

Repair Sylhet-Tamabil road

In Sylhet zone, Sylhet-Tamabil Highway is one of the busiest important roads. Thousands of tourists visit Jaflong every day. Besides, foreign products come through Tamabil Land Port, which are subsequently supplied all over the country.
The road is vital both in terms of business and tourism interests of the area. But the Jaintiapur-Jaflong portion – nearly 20km – of the road is in bad shape with uncountable patches, holes and damages. If such bad conditions continue in coming days then the number of tourists will decrease sharply. It will also affect movement of goods – local and imported – through this highway.
We request the authorities concerned to repair the road immediately in the economic interest of the area.
