Inequality in salary
Very recently, different quarters have been campaigning for establishment of equality between man and woman, without clarifying what do they mean by equality? If it is in the case of right to the ancestral property, then their idea is wrong. It is because women have no financial liability for the families they live in. The entire liability is with the men, who will maintain women, educate them, clothe them, feed them, and marry them. That is why Islam allows that a male shall receive twice of a female, of the property of the deceased.
What a woman earns, it belongs to her and she is not under obligation to spend for others. However, if she willfully gives it fully or a portion thereof, it is different. But none can force her to spend. Use of force is punishable offence. For example, if both husband and wife do jobs together, husband will maintain his wife, and the wife is not under obligation to spend for her husband.
Again, pay and salary between two employees may not be equal. Their quality and conviction must be accounted for while fixing salary. In our country in many offices, juniors having good rapport only with employers draw higher salary than seniors although their quality is much inferior. Attention should be given to this kind of injustice. We, therefore, request the advocates of equality to clarify what do they mean by equality?
